Today we began with Center Time and Morning Meeting, (in morning meeting, we discovered that there are only 11 more school days until the 100th day!). After that we had a short reading lesson on sight words and word endings. Then, we headed up to the Media Center for our time there with Mrs. Hennen.
When we got back down the our room, we had another visit from Megan Pershica, who is the literacy coordinator/teacher at Burroughs. Mrs. Pershica taught a follow-up lesson to the "buddy reading" lesson from last week - the kids learned how to evaluate their work as a 'buddy' using a rubric - they evaluated themselves from a '1' (an "uh-oh" day), to a '3' (a "so-so" day), to a 5 (a "superstar 5" day, which is of course said with a dramatic gesture and voice, as one woudl expect).
After that, we talked about the Read-a-thon and the Valentine's party (the list of kids' names should be in their backpacks today), and then bundled up to go home.
